Fruita Rumble at 18 Road Race Report – Ayden Chance

Fruita Rumble at 18 Road Race Report
My adventure began driving to Fruita with my Mom, and her boyfriend Kenny. We arrived at Fruita late in the afternoon to pre-ride the cross country course on Friday. The weather was nice and sunny, with a slight breeze. I missed the pre-ride with the team so I didn’t know the best spots to pass or drink. After the pre-ride the sun was setting which was nice and soothing. Then I drove back to the hotel to take a shower and relax till dinner, which was at Suds.

After a good night sleep we drove out to the venue and started the day with a warm up with the team. Next I watched my teammates start, and stayed warm till my start. When the race started I was in third position, but once we got out on the dirt road I passed one other racer. After the long ride on the road I hit the single track. The single track descended for a little bit then it was a medium rolling climb to a junction that had a hard sandy climb, I rode most of it but ran the rest. After that there was a long descent that was very fun and it ended with a short climb to the long downhill back to the finish that started as a single track and ended in a double track. On the way back the finishing road was very windy and because no one was around me I had to deal with it and finish the race In second place which is good for me for the first race of the season. This race was fun and boring because through the race I only saw one person I was racing but I passed a lot of other people that I wasn’t racing.
