Fall Program lineup for 2020 (follow links for details)

Young Devo:  for age 6-8, Saturday mornings Sept. 12 – Oct. 17 (6 weeks) 2 time slots available.

Cyclocross Devo: for age 8-13, Sept. 8 – Nov. 19 (11 weeks, ends w/ states) Practices Monday & Wednesday OR Tuesday & Thursday 4:15 – 6:15 pm. Cyclocross is a great entry point to the sport of cycling. It’s the perfect tool for developing bike skills and getting started with racing. A CX bike is not needed. This program is highly recommended, even if you are unsure about cyclocross. Over the past 10 years this program has created hundreds of highly skilled riders!

Devo MTB: for age 9-14, Sept 9 – Oct. 21 (7 weeks) Practices Monday & Wednesday 4:15-6:15 pm  (+/- 15 min). Traditionally we have not offered MTB Devo in the fall and instead focused on our very popular cyclocross program. But with the pandemic cancelling so many activities, we’re offering a small MTB Devo program this fall.

High School Cyclocross aka Hoogerheide: Sept. 8 – Dec. 13 (14 weeks, ends w/ nationals) This is the continuation of our High School program and includes all the coaching, mentorship, and team building that make our squad so successful. Will include a bit of Road and MTB this year. Practice is Tuesday & Wednesday 4:15-6:15 pm. May adjust the schedule as school allows, i.e. we may meet Monday instead of Tuesday.

CX High: For high school MTB racers who are new to cyclocross. Practice on 6 Mondays from Sept. 14 – Oct. 19, 4:15 – 6:15 pm. Athletes may extend the season and move to Hoogerheide after the CX High program concludes.

Shredders Gravity Team: our enduro and gravity MTB team for age 11-18. August 24 – Oct 14  (8 weeks) Mondays &  Wednesdays 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Roster is filled by an application process. Deadline extended to midnight tonight Aug 11, 2020.

Our cancellation policy has changed. Please read it here.

Bad Weather: As we move into Fall, please keep in mind that rain, snow, wind, and cold are inevitable. We almost NEVER cancel practice due to bad weather. We ride in the rain and snow. Be ready. Please dress for the conditions that day. This will range from very hot to very cold, and include rain, snow, wind, sleet, etc. When trails are too muddy to ride, we’ll ride gravel or pavement. In the case of extreme weather we will cancel practice, but it almost never happens. Alert: We do not provide make up days.

Price Changes: As a non-profit, BJC’s goal is always to keep your registration fees as low as possible. However, this year we’ve needed to double our coaching staff to create smaller groups, and our payroll and other operational costs have risen significantly. Additionally, donations, sponsorships, and fundraisers have dropped to almost zero. These economic challenges will force us to slightly increase prices for programs this fall.

Scholarships: I want to remind you that BJC has a support network in place for those who need it. If you anticipate being in a financial position that would prohibit your kids from riding with BJC, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Finally: I want to make a personal plea to our BJC community to support one of our own. Brett Poulton, one of our most legendary Devo coaches, was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. His medical bills are through the roof and his insurance is very limited. Please chip in to our GoFundMe if you have the means! Let’s do this for Brett!

As always, Pete
