Race Report – GoPro Mountain Games, by Jacob Carter-Gibb

We arrived in vail at 1:10 coming directly from steamboat. I had spent the week in steamboat having fun riding bikes and just enjoying the scenery.
I had a good warm up with Cris, Nevin and Ben and a pretty good starting position but for some reason just didn’t have it in the legs. I was about 2nd or 3rd going up the first hill and spent the rest of the first lap going backwards. I found my groove more or less on the second lap and gained two more positions back but still didn’t really have any strong depth. I was able to out sprint just about anyone on the short climbs breaking up the descent and was able to fly down the descent making up time but just didn’t have the deep power that I really needed.
All in all I enjoyed it, it’s a bit of a brutal coarse but a really fun venue. I just need to find away to dial in my training for this last little bit.
